Teaching: Healing Is Done In God’s Presence

Healing is a restorative work that transforms both the inner man and outward lifestyle until a person is able to stand firm against what broke them. God’s presence creates the right environment for that restoration.
The Lord told Moses, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14, NKJV). Rest in God’s presence becomes a safe haven where you consciously and actively release your hurt and pain with the guidance of the Holy Spirit before God. Psalm 147 states, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). Through this process, your soul begins the journey of releasing the chains if bondage and begins to thrive again.
Healing begins with drawing near to God. Scripture says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8, NKJV). When you position yourself before Him, you are informing Him of your condition while allowing Him access to the areas you’re guarding. His presence brings light into places you're avoiding, and that light exposes what needs attention.
David understood this when he prayed, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties” (Psalm 139:23, NKJV). Healing requires honesty. It takes courage to allow God to examine what you are trying to manage or avoid on your own. His Spirit reveals the roots of your symptoms, and He addresses the source of pain. God is here to deliver you, not just soothe the surface.
Some of your wounds have created defensive habits. Certain experiences have influenced your distorted beliefs. In God’s presence, these strongholds begin to shift. The Word of God operates within the heart much like a surgeon works with precision. Hebrews 4:12 teaches that the Word is “living and powerful… and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” It dives into motives and memories, revealing truth.
Rest is surrender. Jesus invites the weary, saying, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NKJV). This rest helps your nervous system and mind to calm down, and your soul to become more open to receiving. You stop reliving what harmed you and begin receiving what restores you.
In His presence, shame, pain, and fear lose authority, and your identity in Christ is rebuilt. Second Corinthians 3:18 declares that as we behold the Lord, we “are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.” Healing is a process of transformation, and you come out stronger.
Being in God’s presence does not rush the process; His presence sustains you each day as you go through the process. Your broken places become stable, and you will find that triggers lose their power. Those memories no longer control you as you learn to stand peacefully where you once fell in pain.
Healing comes through remaining connected. “In Your presence is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11, NKJV). What once broke you no longer defines you because you have chosen to allow God to help you through your process instead of trying to run away from it.
Healing takes place in God’s presence because He is the source of wholeness. When you remain with Him, your restoration uproots what once held you captive, and now you can stand firm against what once caused your downfall.
